The City of London’s Financial and Professional Services Dinner tonight

I had the honour of hosting the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rt Hon Rachel Reeves and the Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey at the City of London’s Financial and Professional Services Dinner. It was a moment to reflect on the extraordinary role our sector plays in driving the UK economy, and to set out a bold path forward.

Speaking at the City of London’s Financial and Professional Services Dinner

I was proud to announce the Employer Pension Pledge, a voluntary commitment for employers to prioritise long-term value for money when selecting pension providers for their workforce. Because retirement security should not be a luxury, it should be a given.

With the Chancellor of the Exchequer

From the launch of the Mansion House Accord to the newly proposed investment hub, we are unlocking billions in capital, supporting homegrown innovation, and reshaping pensions to deliver better outcomes for savers.

The message is clear: we cannot afford to stand still. Let’s be bold, embrace responsible risk, and get on with it.
