Visit to Vietnam
It was a privilege to visit Vietnam to strengthen ties between our two countries and explore opportunities for closer collaboration in financial services.
In Hanoi, I was honoured to chair the UK-Vietnam High-Level International Financial Centre Conference, co-organised with UK in Viet Nam. I was especially grateful to Vietnam’s Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Nguyen Hoa Binh, for his support and vision in advancing this important agenda.
Throughout my visit, I have highlighted the City of London’s role as a global hub for green and sustainable finance and explored ways we can work together to help address Vietnam’s sustainable infrastructure funding gap and achieve net zero goals.
In recent days I have also:
Met with the deputy governor of The State Bank of Vietnam to discuss how greater partnership can maximise the strength of both our financial services sectors.
Shared the UK’s expertise in building domestic pools of capital, skills development, workforce diversity, and the rule of law.
Engaged with UK financial and professional services firms operating in Vietnam to understand opportunities and challenges for the medium to long term.
Engaged with YPO leaders to strengthen partnerships between UK and Vietnamese members.
I look forward to continuing to build on this work, supporting Vietnam’s ambition to develop an International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City and deepening collaboration between our markets for the benefit of both our economies.
