Visit to Beijing

On my visit to Asia I had a highly productive visit to Beijing, strengthening the financial and economic ties between the UK and China. My discussions focused on unlocking new opportunities for collaboration, investment, and innovation.

Visiting Beijing

As two leading global financial hubs, it was good to speak with Beijing's Mayor, Mr Yin Yong, deepening bilateral cooperation and promoting London’s role as a global hub for RMB trading and green finance.

Strong engagements continued with China Construction Bank (Asia) and China CITIC Bank International Limited on green bond issuance, pensions, asset management, and the UK’s recent reforms to boost productive investment through the Leeds reforms, Mansion House Accord, and Investment Hub.

As technology steams ahead, it was great to hold a roundtable discussing investment opportunities and even collaboration - highlighting the UK’s capabilities in FinTech and AI, and identifying opportunities for Chinese institutions to leverage London’s expertise in sustainable finance and innovation.

I look forward to building on this momentum and advancing London’s role as a key financial hub for the world.
